Position Overview: Intermediate Structural Engineer

We are in particular need of an Intermediate Structural Engineer with at least 5 years of experience in:
- Management of engineering projects under the supervision and mentorship of more senior engineers
- Conceptual and detailed engineering design
- Preparation and checking of engineering calculations
- Development of sketches for distribution to drafting staff and management of the production of engineering drawings
- Involvement in all stages of engineering projects, including client liaison
- Authoring and/or review of engineering reports
- Occasional site visits
- Mentorship of more junior engineering and technological staff
Projects will be structural (primarily) and civil (secondary) work such as: buildings, resource sector and highway bridges, machine bases and foundations, platforms, and site development and utility services.
This position requires excellent communication skills with the ability to prepare clearly written correspondence, engineering reports and technical studies, and to communicate effectively face-to-face with clients.
You will be expected to work reasonably independently on assigned tasks, but under the guidance of more senior engineers. As well, you will collaborate with other staff members, on projects of all types.
This position includes working in a modern, well equipped consulting engineering office with the opportunity for occasional field work, including travel around beautiful central and northern British Columbia, and occasionally Alberta, Yukon, and Saskatchewan.
The successful candidate will be currently registered or eligible to be registered as a professional engineer (P.Eng) with the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC.
