We are experiencing exponential growth in our presence in Canada. In 1998, it was awarded for the construction, operation, and maintenance project for the Fredericton-Moncton Highway. In 2011, it was awarded a section of the Toronto-York Spadina Subway extension, the first modern subway infrastructure project in the city. This project was completed in 2018.


FCC Construcción Canadá has won a new contract to deliver the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations section of the Ontario Line, together with the GO Rail Expansion-On Corridor Project and the Scarborough Subway Extension Stations, Rail and Systems Project reinforces FCC Construcción’s presence in the Canadian market.


Project Opportunity


We are looking for an Site Engineer (Demolition) to join our FCC Canada team assigned to the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations Project. This position is located in downtown Toronto with frequent site visits.


POSITION SUMMARY


The Site Engineer (Demolition) will play a crucial role in overseeing and executing demolition projects safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements. This includes closely collaborating with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to ensure the successful completion of demolition phases within the project.


The Site Demolition Engineer key responsibilities are:

  • Conduct thorough site assessments to evaluate structures slated for demolition, considering safety, environmental, and logistical factors.
  • Develop demolition plans, including methodologies, sequencing, and safety protocols, ensuring compliance with local regulations and industry standards.
  • Coordinate demolition activities within broader project timelines.
  • Supervise demolition operations onsite, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, environmental guidelines, and project specifications.
  • Manage demolition subcontractors and labor crews, providing technical guidance and oversight throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor and control project costs, schedules, and quality, identifying and addressing any deviations or issues promptly.
  • Conduct post-demolition assessments and documentation, including site cleanup and waste management procedures.
  • Maintain accurate project records, including daily logs, progress reports, and as-built documentation.
  • Ensure occupational health and safety regulations were being complied with
  • Perform other duties assigned from time to time.


EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience in demolition, and infrastructure projects, with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of demolition techniques, equipment, and safety standards.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in using project management software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, MS Project).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Professional Engineer license, OSHA certifications) preferred.
  • Ability to travel and work on-site as required by project demands.
  • Demonstrate creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems.
  • Interface with clients on project activities including data gathering, site investigation and project status.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Deep understanding principles of load paths and structural behaviour
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation in Ontario.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Ability to lead and manage a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to work in hazardous conditions and to travel to different job sites
  • Possession of a full and valid Ontario driver's license.
