Job Description

The Director of Human Resources works closely with leadership to align HR initiatives with Ontario's business objectives and strategic priorities. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, this role focuses on labour relations, talent acquisition, employee development, and performance management.


The Director is responsible for driving change strategies that foster a high-performance culture, leveraging diagnostic and influencing skills to collaborate with leaders on enhancing performance, business outcomes, and employee engagement. They proactively identify strategic gaps and opportunities, developing a comprehensive HR plan to address root causes effectively. Additionally, this role provides direction and leadership to the Ontario HR team.


What you should expect:

  • Provide strategic direction for HR policies, programs, and initiatives across the Ontario region.
  • Oversee all aspects of HR management, including but not limited to labour relations, talent acquisition, development, and performance management.
  • Lead and mentor the Ontario HR team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with business unit leaders to understand their talent needs and develop strategies to attract, retain, and develop top talent.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations.
  • Partner with the VP of Human Resources to drive HR initiatives and projects at both the regional and company-wide levels.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and leaders, guiding on HR-related matters and conflict resolution.


What you should bring:

  • University degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 7 + years of progressive HR experience, with a focus on labour relations, talent acquisition, development, and performance management.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing teams and driving organizational change.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations in Ontario.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and translate HR strategy into actionable plans.
  • SHRM or HRPA certification preferred.
