We are seeking a Part-Time Porter for our bakery. This entry-level position is crucial for ensuring that our operations run smoothly and on schedule while adhering to health standards and maintaining a clean and tidy work environment.

This is a part-time position, requiring approximately 20-25 hours per week. The schedule is consistent, with shifts on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Weekday hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, while Sunday hours are from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Responsibilities - Wash, air dry, and put away cookware, utensils and cutlery safely and efficiently to keep them in rotation
- Close dish station thoroughly at end of day:
- Put away ALL dishes (including those above sink - plates, cups, utensils)
- Wash inside of each compartment in 3-comp sink with soap + sponge, rinse and sanitize, towel dry
- Wash, rinse, sanitize and dry all sides and outside of sink (stainless steel backsplash, front, underneath, side wings, etc)
- Wipe down ovens and all tables
- Empty all sanitizer buckets and take any loose towels to laundry hamper
- Move all speed racks to the wall near the window, place the covered rack with leftovers away from sunlight and zip closed. Place near the side door next to the sheeter.
- Check for any food left out to put away: jam, salsa, etc. Report to managers if any other food is left out you are uncertain about.
- Take out all garbage from inside the bakery (end of day)
- Take recycling and boxes out daily (end of day)
- Sweep and mop kitchen and storage room floor at end of day
- Break down recycling (Thursday afternoons)
- Take trash + recycling bins out to red curb (Thursday afternoons)
- Help with routine food prep tasks when needed (shaping bread, scooping cookies, etc)
- Deep clean kitchen mats every Saturday at the end of day and leave out to dry
(Deep clean - use hose, yellow brush and diluted Simple Green in a bucket.)
Requirements and skills
- A fast learner with an interest in kitchen work
- The ability to stand for long hours
- Willingness to adhere to health and safety rules
- Good organizational and team work skills
- The ability to work unsupervised in a busy environment
- Maintain a high level of professionalism at all times
- Hold a current Food Handler’s Permit
