Position Summary:
As a physical therapist, you will provide essential treatment to patients by evaluating their needs and implementing appropriate strategies to enhance their function and recovery. You'll collaborate in an interdisciplinary approach, engage in community education, and contribute to the clinical training of students.
Education/Certification:
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program with a minimum of a B.S. degree.
- Current Connecticut license in Physical Therapy is required.
Competencies:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are essential.
- Proficiency in using Windows-based programs for departmental functions.
- Basic keyboarding skills and familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel are desirable.
- Reliable transportation is necessary for travel between multiple worksites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Conduct patient evaluations in accordance with departmental standards.
- Modify evaluations based on individual patient symptoms, activity levels, and medical histories, establishing personalized, measurable goals.
- Administer therapeutic exercises tailored to the patients' needs.
- Utilize physical agents and manual therapy techniques to alleviate pain and achieve treatment goals.
- Implement effective strategies to support motor activity normalization and learning.
- Educate patients and their families about home exercise programs and functional activities to enhance independence.
- Assess when patients have reached their treatment goals and recommend discharge accordingly.
- Document patient care in compliance with insurance guidelines and departmental policies.
- Maintain effective communication with departmental staff and referring physicians about patient care.
- Accurately submit daily charge documentation.
- Uphold the professional code of ethics as established by the APTA and the facility.
- Employ proper body mechanics and safety protocols to prevent injuries during duties.
- Supervise at least one affiliate student annually.
- Engage in continuing education to advance treatment techniques.
- Participate in departmental and community educational programs as needed.
