Position Summary:

As a Physical Therapist, you will evaluate and treat patients, selecting and applying appropriate interventions to promote healing and rehabilitation. You will actively participate in interdisciplinary teamwork, community education initiatives, and the clinical education of students from affiliate programs. This role may require travel between multiple work sites.

Education/Certification:

  • A graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program with at least a B.S. degree.
  • A valid Connecticut Physical Therapy license is required.

Competencies:

  • Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows programs and basic computer skills.
  • Basic keyboarding abilities; familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel is desirable.
  • Reliable transportation for travel between multiple locations is necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This position encompasses various responsibilities and expectations that may shift over time. Some key duties include:

  1. Evaluating patients per departmental standards.
  2. Conducting thorough assessments, establishing realistic goals tailored to each patient's needs.
  3. Implementing effective therapeutic exercises to enhance strength, endurance, coordination, and range of motion.
  4. Administering modalities and manual therapy techniques to alleviate pain.
  5. Applying effective methods to normalize motor functions and facilitate learning.
  6. Educating patients and families on home exercises and functional activities for maximizing independence.
  7. Recognizing when patients have reached their treatment goals and advising on discharge when appropriate.
  8. Maintaining accurate documentation in line with insurance standards and departmental policies.
  9. Fostering communication with referring physicians and other departments regarding patient care.
  10. Accurately submitting daily charge entries.
  11. Adhering to the professional code of ethics as established by relevant associations and the facility.
  12. Ensuring proper body mechanics and safety during all duties to prevent injury.
  13. Supervising at least one student intern annually.
  14. Engaging in continuing education courses to enhance treatment techniques.
  15. Participating in departmental or community educational programs.
