Position Summary:

As a Physical Therapist, you will provide exceptional treatment to patients by assessing their condition and implementing tailored therapy plans to enhance or restore their functionality. You will also engage in interdisciplinary initiatives for community education and assist with the clinical training of affiliated students. Some travel between multiple work sites may be required.

Education/Certification:

  • Must be a graduate from an accredited Physical Therapy program with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Current Connecticut license in Physical Therapy is required.

Competencies:

  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written are essential.
  • Proficiency in Windows-based applications is required.
  • Basic keyboarding skills, and familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel are desirable.
  • Must have reliable transportation for travel between sites.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Evaluate patients according to departmental standards.
  2. Conduct thorough assessments and modify treatment plans based on individual patient needs and symptoms.
  3. Administer therapeutic exercises aimed at strengthening, enhancing endurance, coordination, and range of motion.
  4. Utilize physical agents and manual techniques for pain relief and goal attainment.
  5. Employ effective strategies to normalize motor activities and learning processes.
  6. Educate patients and their families on home exercise programs to foster independence.
  7. Assess patient progress and recommend discharge when treatment goals have been met.
  8. Document treatments in compliance with insurance guidelines and facility policies.
  9. Foster communication with other departments and referring physicians regarding patient care.
  10. Accurately process and submit daily charges.
  11. Uphold the professional code of ethics set forth by the APTA and the facility at all times.
  12. Perform duties with proper body mechanics to prevent injury.
  13. Supervise at least one student per year from affiliated programs.
  14. Attend continuing education courses to refine treatment techniques.
  15. Participate in departmental or community in-service events.
