POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Physical Therapist, you will assess patient needs and implement therapeutic interventions to improve or restore function. You will also engage in community education and support the clinical education of affiliate students. You may occasionally travel between different sites to provide care.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program with at least a Bachelor's degree.
  • Current Connecticut license in Physical Therapy is required.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient with personal computers and familiar with Windows-based applications.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel preferred.
  • Reliable transportation for travel between locations as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Evaluate patients according to departmental standards.
  2. Conduct thorough assessments and tailor treatments to individual patient needs.
  3. Implement appropriate exercises and therapies to improve strength and function.
  4. Utilize various modalities and therapeutic techniques for pain management and recovery.
  5. Guide patients and families in home exercise and rehabilitation programs.
  6. Determine when patients are ready for discharge based on their progress.
  7. Document all treatments and interactions in compliance with insurance guidelines.
  8. Foster effective communication with physicians and interdisciplinary team members regarding patient care.
  9. Accurately submit billing and documentation daily.
  10. Uphold professional ethics and standards set forth by the APTA.
  11. Prioritize safety and proper body mechanics in all interactions.
  12. Mentor at least one student annually and participate in continuing education to enhance professional development.
  13. Engage in departmental education and community service as needed.
