Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from an approved school of Respiratory Therapy, or completion of the associate degree equivalency, and successful passage of the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) exam.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS

Required:

Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
n
Must maintain credentials with the NBRC as well as licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) with the Texas Department of State Health Services. Current BLS and ACLS.

Preferred Qualifications:

PFT testing and/or Bronchoscopy experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
n

Assesses the respiratory care needs of patients.
n n- n
Identifies and reviews patient diagnosis/patient care needs and the contraindications and possible complications of patients of performing pulmonary function testing.
n n- n
Demonstrate proficiency in department workflow and scheduling appointments.
n n- n
Performs and becomes proficient in pulmonary function testing including but not limited to spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion, arterial blood gases, cardiopulmonary exercising testing, six-minute walks, respiratory pressures, bronchoprovocation, impedance oscillometry, pentamidine treatments, exercise-induce bronchospasm, and bronchoscopy per department policies.

Documents appropriately in testing software, patient medical record, and department charting.

Maintains knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.

Assist in maintaining supply requirements in department and stocks inventory as needed.

Recognizes education/experience limitations and seeks expertise as needed.

Participates in department meetings and trainings.

Becomes proficient in calibrations, quality control, analyzer functions, surveys, and inspections.

Salary:

$29.92 - $46.55; Salary commensurate with experience
n
Shift : 7am - 5pm/5 day/40hrs wk. Multiple locations once proficient in all areas.
