Trueline's client, a respected legal aid organization, is seeking a Domestic Violence Staff Attorney to join their team in Florida. This role focuses on providing civil legal assistance to victims of domestic violence, sexual trauma, and stalking under the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant.
What You'll Do as the Domestic Violence Staff Attorney:
- Conduct client interviews and eligibility assessments
- Provide legal advice, referrals, and representation in court and administrative proceedings
- Participate in community outreach and case acceptance meetings
- Maintain accurate case documentation and statistical records
- Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to ensure high-quality advocacy
- Stay current with continuing legal education and relevant training
- Promote accessibility for diverse client populations, including rural, non-English speaking, and clients with disabilities
- Foster positive relationships with community partners, service providers, and the private bar
You'll Succeed as the Domestic Violence Staff Attorney if you Have:
- A Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active membership in the Florida Bar
- Knowledge of state and federal court procedures
- Strong commitment to public interest law and compassion for clients
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; case management software experience a plus
- Capability to thrive in high-pressure situations with deadlines
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish or Haitian Creole (preferred but not required)
- Willingness to travel throughout Florida as needed
