This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s technology vision and aligning it with business goals. The CTO will work closely with the CEO, board members, and other stakeholders to provide strategic direction and oversight on all technical initiatives while leading a team of engineers, developers, and product managers.

This is not a purely managerial role. The ideal candidate must have a deep understanding of the technology landscape, including modern software development practices, mobile development, cloud technologies, and system architecture. As a member of the leadership team, the CTO will need to be comfortable and confident in high-level board meetings and technical discussions with both non-technical stakeholders and expert engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technology Strategy and Vision:
  • Develop and communicate the company’s technology vision and strategy in alignment with business goals. Lead the long-term technology roadmap, considering industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Software & Mobile Development Expertise:
  • Provide hands-on leadership and expertise in software development practices, mobile development (iOS/Android), cloud computing, system architecture, and scalable infrastructure. Ensure that all technical solutions meet the company’s standards for quality, security, and performance.
  • Leadership and Team Development:
  • Build, mentor, and lead a highly skilled technology team. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning. Ensure the team is equipped to execute complex projects and stay at the cutting edge of technology.
  • Board-Level Leadership:
  • Present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, including board members and executive leadership, in an easy-to-understand manner. Participate actively in board meetings, offering strategic technology insights that influence company direction. Be the key voice on all technology-related decisions at the board level.
  • Technical Due Diligence & Innovation:
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies, tools, and platforms that can drive innovation. Oversee the technical evaluation of potential partnerships, mergers, and acquisitions. Ensure the company stays competitive by anticipating and addressing technological shifts.
  • Project Oversight & Execution:
  • Drive the successful delivery of large-scale, mission-critical projects on time and within budget. Oversee cross-functional project teams and ensure strong collaboration between engineering, product, and other departments.
  • Risk Management and Security:
  • Own the security and compliance strategy for all technology and data systems. Identify, mitigate, and manage risks related to technology platforms and products.
  • Budgeting and Resource Allocation:
  • Lead technology budgeting and resource allocation processes. Ensure that the technology department operates efficiently and effectively within budget while maintaining the ability to scale operations as needed.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience:
  • 10+ years in a technology-related field, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles (preferably as a CTO, VP of Engineering, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience leading software development teams and mobile development projects (iOS/Android).
  • Strong background in software engineering, cloud computing, and modern development practices.
  • Experience in scaling technology teams and systems within fast-paced, growth-oriented environments.
  • Strong understanding of system architecture, DevOps, and agile methodologies.

  • Business & Communication Skills:
  • Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in board meetings, investor discussions, and client engagements.
  • High-level strategic thinking with an understanding of how technology drives business growth.
  • Ability to align technical vision with business goals and drive long-term innovation.
  • Leadership and Mentorship:
  • Strong leadership skills with experience leading cross-functional teams in a collaborative, results-driven environment.
  • Passionate about developing talent and fostering a positive, high-performance engineering culture.
  • Education:
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (advanced degree preferred but not required).
