Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Economics Teacher to inspire and educate high school students in the principles of economics. The ideal candidate will create engaging lesson plans, foster critical thinking, and equip students with skills to understand economic concepts and apply them to real-world scenarios.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver comprehensive lesson plans covering microeconomics, macroeconomics, and personal finance.
- Foster a classroom environment conducive to learning and respectful discussions.
- Use a variety of teaching methods and resources, including technology, to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Evaluate and monitor student progress through assignments, projects, quizzes, and exams.
- Provide feedback and support to students to help them improve academically and personally.
- Stay updated on economic trends, educational strategies, and curriculum developments.
- Collaborate with other faculty members and participate in staff meetings and professional development.
- Encourage critical thinking and problem-solving through discussions, case studies, and current events.
- Support school-wide events, extracurricular activities, and initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Teaching certification for the state/region (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Strong understanding of economic principles and their applications.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Passion for teaching and mentoring students.
- Ability to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience teaching economics at the high school level.
- Familiarity with personal finance and its integration into the curriculum.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and tools.
- Strong classroom management skills.
Work Environment:
- Classroom setting with opportunities for collaborative work and independent instruction.
- May include occasional participation in school functions outside regular school hours.
