Position Overview



Polymershapes, a leading plastic distribution and manufacturing company, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator / CNC Programmer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in designing, developing, and optimizing CNC programs, as well as supporting our estimating efforts to ensure production efficiency and customer satisfaction. This role offers an exciting blend of technical expertise, problem-solving, and collaboration in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.



Key Responsibilities



CNC Programming:

  • Develop, test, and optimize CNC programs for plastic machining processes using G-code, CAM software, and other programming tools.
  • Analyze technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to determine machining strategies and specifications.
  • Select appropriate tools, cutting paths, and speeds to maximize efficiency and reduce material waste.


Estimating:

  • Review customer specifications, drawings, and requirements to develop accurate time, material, and cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with sales and production teams to ensure quotes are competitive and aligned with manufacturing capabilities.
  • Continuously refine and improve estimating processes to enhance accuracy and response times.


Operational Support:

  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure seamless integration of CNC programs into manufacturing workflows.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues, including tool wear, setup inaccuracies, and programming errors.
  • Conduct test runs and quality inspections to validate programs and ensure production meets required tolerances.


Process Improvement:

  • Continuously review and enhance machining processes to improve cycle times, reduce downtime, and enhance product quality.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings through tool optimization, material usage improvements, and innovative machining techniques.
  • Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for CNC programming and machine operation.


Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of CNC programs, tool specifications, machining parameters, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare and update operational documentation, including program revisions, troubleshooting guides, and quoting methodologies.

Provide reports on production efficiency, program performance, and quality metrics.
