Quality Engineer

Location: Ipswich, MA

Job Type: Full-Time (Contract to Hire)


Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Engineer to join our team. The Quality Engineer will ensure that all supplier materials, certifications, and processes comply with the ASME Code, ASTM standards, and customer requirements. This position involves supplier communication, compliance verification, and continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to the highest quality standards in our products and processes.


Key Responsibilities


Supplier Compliance & Documentation

  • Review supplier certifications for material compliance with the ASME Code, ASTM standards, and customer requirements.
  • When applicable, verify adherence to NRC 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and Part 21.
  • Contact suppliers to resolve errors and discrepancies in certifications.
  • Approve supplier Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) procedures for use on supplied parts.


Purchase Order & Certification Verification

  • Review purchase orders to confirm parts meet customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Write Certificates of Conformance/Compliance certifying that shipped parts meet all necessary standards and specifications.


Non-Conformance Management

  • Lead Material Review Board (MRB) meetings to discuss non-conformances with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.
  • Investigate root causes for non-conformances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare scrap sheets for parts deemed unusable.


Process Improvement & Compliance

  • Update and maintain quality procedures per ASME Code, ISO 9001, and the company’s Quality Manual.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement quality improvements and ensure process adherence.


Qualifications


Education & Experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or a related field.

Experience: 1–2 years of relevant experience (senior-level applicants are encouraged to apply).


Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of ASME Code, ASTM standards, and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Familiarity with NRC 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and Part 21 compliance requirements.
  • Experience with Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) procedures and material certifications.


Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for supplier and cross-functional team interactions.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
