Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations. Responsibilities: With minimum direction and considerable latitude for independent judgment, performs routine and non-routine duties requiring highly advanced secretarial skills and proficiency for the head of an academic, medical service, business or comparable department. Is responsible for considerable departmental administrative details and duties requiring extensive experience with policies, procedures and practices of the University, or within a specific division, or in other demonstrated and related equivalent situations. In department business matters has frequent contacts with Deans, Directors, faculty members, students and other administrative staff. Is responsible for assignment and the review of the day-to-day clerical operations. SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION RECEIVED: Receives minimum direction from a Dean, Director, Division or Department Head, or Office Manager.Schedule 8 AM-4:30 PM Responsibilities Appropriate categories of patients served by the employee include: X 18-65 yrs X Over 65 yrs POSITION SUMMARY: Performs complex secretarial and administrative duties in a fast paced Outpatient Hem/Onc Infusion center, with minimal direction and considerable latitude for independent judgement, in support of the Cancer Center. Responsibilities include routine and non- routine duties requiring complex decision making and advanced clerical skills, as well as outstanding proficiency in an Outpatient Infusion Center. Excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize are essential. SUPERVISION/DIRECTION RECEIVED: Clinical Administrator TYPICAL DUTIES: Responsible for scheduling multiple complex Infusion Center appointments. This duty entails working closely with the Infusion Center charge nurse to ensure all appointments are entered appropriately and accurately. Responsible for updating any scheduling changes as they may occur. Responsible for scheduling, arriving all Apheresis appointments. Assist in handling incoming calls in the treatment center, triaging to appropriate staff. Assess clinical urgency of situations. Daily filing of referral orders that come from referring physician offices on treatment center fax machine. Confirm health insurance authorizations. Interface with outpatient department to assure smooth transition of appropriate documentation that is required to provide patient services. Orders blood products from blood bank for next day's transfusions. Receive incoming phone calls, triaging to physicians or nurses. Assess clinical urgency of the situation. Conduct phone interview with patients, collecting additional information to determine priority of appointment. Provides assistance to Infusion Center charge nurse, and all treatment center nurses as assigned. Print schedules out for nursing staff every morning. Exercise and maintain knowledge of all policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Provide administrative support to and coordination from all aspects of patient care for follow up and referral patients. MACHINES/EQUIPMENT USED: Cmputer, Printer, Copier, Scanner REQUIREMENTS: Medical Secretary degree/studies or equivalent training/two years' experience in a medical office setting.
