School Nurse (RN) - Early Childhood Services Ronkonkoma, NY Developmental Disabilities Institute, DDI, is one of the largest providers of care to children and adults with Autism, developmental disabilities and other special needs. DDI has been a part of Long Island for over 50 years serving over 1,500 children and adults with Autism, other developmental disabilities and special needs. DDI provides innovative and expansive services to our population through various residential services, day habilitation programs and vocational services. What you'll do for DDI:Daily attendance to students enrolledTreatment of all children for illness and injuries-treat, record and notify parentsAdminister medications daily, record and maintain up-to-date records.Maintain up-to-date students’ records on all students, i.e., physicals and immunizationsAdminister Mantoux’s yearly to all staff and new employees and maintain recordsCreate and utilize special need Health Care Plans and keep staff informed of children’s Health Care Plan needsStaff inservices as needed (OSHA, Universal precautions, safety, etc.)Administer care to staff in case of injury and complete incident reports as per DDI regulations and maintain monthly trackingHandle all medical emergencies within buildingOrder all supplies Other duties as assigned What you need for the role:Registered Nurse, Licensed in New York StateMust be able to modify the area to secure the safety of childrenAbility to move/transport a child weighing up to 30 pounds to a height of 3 feet to place child on changing tableMust be able to move quickly after a child up to 200 feet to prevent elopementMust be able to position self or maneuver classroom to facilitate student instruction in classroom and playground environmentMust have ability to follow oral and written directions and detect/respond to fire alarmsMust be able to ascend and descend stairs with railing What you get from DDI:The ability to make a difference in the lives of the students attending our Early Childhood Services programsGenerous paid time off that is aligned with our school calendar (plus 3 personal days and additional sick time)Medical/Dental/Vision/Life Insurance403(b) retirement planTuition reimbursement and more!
