Summary of Role
Inventory Specialists play a crucial role in the surgical department at OrthoVirginia. They are responsible for maintaining high inventory accuracy of supplies ensuring that the right medical supplies and equipment are available for each procedure. They manage the inventory of surgical tools, medications, sterile supplies, and other essential items, overseeing everything from ordering and stocking to monitoring usage and expiration dates. Their goal is to prevent shortages, minimize waste, and ensure smooth operations so that surgical teams have everything they need for patient care without delays.
Primary Functions & Accountabilities
Inventory Management

  • Maintain par levels for inventory in the Surgical Services Department, conducting daily inventory counts and restocking as needed
  • Oversee inventory levels, placing orders for additional products and supplies when required
  • Keep inventory updated with relevant products based on industry trends and organizational needs
Vendor and Stakeholder Communication
  • Coordinate with vendors and department leads to procure surgical supplies that align with the organization's needs
Process Improvement
  • Review and optimize selection and shipping processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
Collaboration and Compliance
  • Adhere to OrthoVirginia Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors in all inventory management practices
  • Collaborate with the Purchasing Director and Surgical Services Director to maximize cost-efficiency
Position Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of experience in supply inventory, preferably in healthcare industry as a medical supply inventory specialist or Materials Manager Technician.
