Company Description
Central Hospital for Veterinary Medicine is a 24 hour emergency and specialty hospital founded in 1973 by several local veterinarians in North Haven, CT. Our team includes over 20 experienced veterinarians and nurses who work around-the-clock to provide urgent and emergency care to cats, dogs, birds, reptiles, rabbits, and more. Our hospital also features veterinary specialists in various fields, such as surgery, emergency/critical care, anesthesia, cardiology, ophthalmology, oncology, exotics, behavior, dermatology, internal medicine, radiology/ultrasound, interventional radiology, canine rehabilitation, and I-131 therapy. Last year, we saw referral cases from more than 300 veterinary clinics.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for an Emergency Veterinarian. The Emergency Veterinarian will be responsible for providing urgent and emergency care to animals, diagnosing and treating illnesses, performing surgeries, and working collaboratively with our veterinary team. This role may require overnight shifts or weekends.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM or VMD)
- Current state veterinary license
- Compassionate and caring attitude towards animals and pet owners
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well in a team
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and confidently
- Experience in emergency medicine or critical care is a plus
- Board certification or eligibility in the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC) is a plus
