Key Responsibilities:
Perform Diagnostic Procedures:
- Schedule and coordinate testing, operate ultrasound equipment, and document results.
- Perform complex diagnostic and vascular ultrasound examinations.
- Archive imaging, calibrate equipment, and maintain operational logs.
Patient Interaction:
- Explain imaging procedures to patients and healthcare providers to ensure understanding and cooperation.
- Utilize your knowledge to optimally position patients throughout the study to achieve the best images.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Routinely assess the safety and effectiveness of ultrasound equipment.
- Document findings and prepare recommendations for modifications as necessary.
- Perform operator preventive maintenance and care of equipment.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Liaise with technicians, researchers, and medical staff regarding ultrasound practices and procedures.
- Assist in developing budgets for ultrasound equipment and facilities.
- Complete ultrasound worksheets and study-related documentation to share test findings with referring physicians.
Work Environment & Safety:
- Interaction with human blood or other body fluids and patient/human subjects.
- Contact with specific viruses (e.g., HIV-1, HIV-2, Rabies Virus, Orthopox Virus, etc.).
- Exposure to aerosols, biological inhalants, corrosive substances, plastics, petroleum products, and solvents.
- Required safety equipment includes gloves, face shields/goggles, safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coats, impervious suits, disposable dust/surgical masks, and respirators (N, P, R –95, 99,100; Powered Air Purified Respirator (PAPR)).
Qualifications:
- ARDMS certification required.
- Associate's degree in Medical Technologies or a related field.
- Technical skills relevant to general and vascular ultrasound.
- Strong interpersonal communication and data entry skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds and push or pull up to 45 pounds.
- Ability to perform tasks that involve reaching above shoulder level, bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and standing or walking for more than 25 out of 30 minutes.
- Correctable near vision, depth perception, and ability to distinguish basic colors required.
Work Hours:
- Full-time, 30-40 hours per week
- Rotational shifts, Monday through Saturday
- No teleworking, night shifts, or fixed schedules.
