Position Summary:
Our client, a fast-growing forest products company is hiring for a Chief Financial Officer. The company’s product mix revolves around products made from the forest and are mainly geared toward animal agriculture, pet and companion animals, fuels and horticultural markets.
Absolute Minimum Must Have’s / Experience / Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree and MBA Required
- 10+ years of experience as a Visionary and Strategic Business Partner leading and expanding the business via the Accounting and Finance function of a $80MM company in the manufacturing industry.15+ years of experience in Accounting and Finance
- Experience with reporting, data analysis and visualization tools required. Experience building out a system/ implementation required.
Preferred Experience:
Merger and Acquisition experience preferred

Learn the Business while building and nurturing key relationships
- Conduct extensive Gap Analysis
- Research and determine the Current State of the business by business pillar. (Ops, Finance & Accounting, HR, Leadership, etc)
- Build and construct the road map communicating the Future State of the business by business pillar ( Ops, etc)
Setting the Vision and Strategic Direction
- Explore how to take advantage of emerging technologies such as AI
- Work closely with CEO and operations managers and sales dept. to develop plans for future growth
- Develop plans for growth to increase company profit while also reducing expenditure
- Allow the current CEO to have more time for working directly with division heads on process and people improvements as well as new products and customer development
Financial Planning and Analysis
- Work with CEO to develop short, mid-term, and long-term financial plans
- Develop solid financial reporting within the company
- Responsible for all financial institution reporting
- Analyze trends in sales and production
- Forecast cash flow
Business/Finance Advisory Services
- Be the trusted financial partner to the CEO
- Assist the CEO and Management team in systemizing the business
- ROI forecast for current and future business
- Understand all aspects of the company’s operations, sales, and finances
Budgeting and Budgetary Control
- Budget forecasting, creation, and implementation
- Work with Sales and Operations to establish, monitor, coach and report budgets
- Develop department Budgets and work with departments to keep cost and sales within budget
- Development and report on budgets for capital projects
- Report and analyze budget variances
- Budget, track, and report capital expenditures
- Sales against budgets reporting as well as trend analysis
Providing Accurate Information for Management for Effective Decision Making
- Keep accurate and timely financial reporting in front of the management team
- Development of KPI and management reporting
- Verify that reporting of sales, production, and inventory is accurate
Inventory Management and Control
- Make sure production, Sales and inventory tracking is accurate and timely
- Develop and implement better, more accurate and timely inventory tracking
- Product profitability (develop reporting of volume and profitability)
Cost Control
- Develop Purchasing Controls and Protocols
Primary Responsibilities:
Treasury Management
- Work with team to develop KPIs and report production and profitability
- Cash management
Preparation of Financial Statements
- Develop costs and profitability report for each product and division
- Report on Gross sales, Payroll and Assets per insurance requirements
Information Systems
- Analyzing internal data collection and reporting systems
Developing and improving internal reporting systems to include more visualization
- Analyze and implement opportunities for ERP
- Look for ways to make reporting both into and out of the department more efficient and accurate
- Developing and Updating Accounting Policies and Procedures
- Manage the accounting Department through the Controller
- Oversee all aspects of the accounting department
Procurement Management
- Shop for insurance to purchase
- Assemble information and oversee the purchase of insurance
Mergers and Acquisitions
- Analyze investment opportunities and managing mergers and acquisitions
- Analyze merger and acquisition opportunities
Preventing Fraud of Theft
Secondary Responsibilities:
Billing and Credit Control
Ensuring Compliance with all Federal and State Rules and Regulations
- Responsible for all governmental reporting
- All state reporting (various periodic reporting and payments)
- Make sure the company operates within the confines of various financial covenants from Lenders
