Responsibilities:
The R&D Manager will partner with Marketing, Sales, and external agencies to create scientific communication and claims strategy to grow the business.
- Define technical selection criteria of active ingredients for products sold in the US, Canada, and Internationally including efficacy and safety.
- Manage the research/discovery and launch phase of R&D across multiple benefit areas
- Develop & substantiate product claims for artwork, website, and social media.
- Create & review communication materials for compliance, accuracy, and scientific support (labels, websites, copy), using scientific information and consumer & market trends
- Create a knowledge warehouse on the efficacy & safety of dietary supplement technologies to support product design and claims
- Design claims-driven clinical, consumer, and analytical studies. Turn results and 3rd party literature into technical product stories
- Resolve out of specifications, consumer complaints, and quality questions
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biology, Nutrition or similar majors
- 5+ years of experience in formulation design and claims experience
- Experience of identifying, evaluating, and managing ingredient suppliers
- Knowledge of US regulations, including 21 CFR Part 111, 117, DSHEA.
- Knowledge of international regulations preferred (Health Canada, TGA, EFSA)
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where change and ambiguity are prevalent
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
