Job Description:

  • Responsible for clinical and all aspects of adult and pediatric patient care involving Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. Responsible for assisting physicians/providers and management with all clinical, clerical, and organizational tasks revolving around patient care for infusion services. Travel within the different sites as needed for staff education and patient care.


Essential Job Duties – (Duties include but are not limited to the following):

  1. Report any misconduct, suspicious or unethical activities to the Compliance Officer.
  2. Gather medical documentation to support the patients' medical necessity for treatments
  3. Complete preregistration functions such as validating patient demographic information, identifying and verifying medical benefits and insurance information
  4. Monitor schedule and organize patient flow
  5. Perform up keep for facilities with regards to sterilization and infection control, supplies, and equipment
  6. Ensure that each patient completes correct documentation, signs any NNS form, and provides consent prior to any testing (skin, patch, breathing, drug/medication testing etc..)
  7. Food Challenges preparation and administration
  8. Skin and patch testing preparation and administration
  9. Drug/medication preparation and administration
  10. Steroid-shots preparation and administration
  11. Drawing of labs – Quest
  12. Breathing Treatments Spirometry preparation and administration
  13. Update patient history and provide feedback to the physicians/providers as to any concerns or issues arising between appointments
  14. Manage patient charts to ensure clinical information is completed and filed appropriately and in a timely manner
  15. Patient safety, monitoring, and follow-up
  16. Perform emergency lifesaving procedures if necessary
  17. Answer communications and phone calls and respond to such by the end of the workday, sooner for urgent matters
  18. Complete requests for information from Administrative Staff promptly and effectively
  19. Abide by and promote HIPAA compliance; maintains strictest confidentiality with regards to patient information
  20. Abide by,promote, and ensure regulatory compliance, including but not limited to OSHA, federal and state laws/regulations, etc.
  21. Participate in staff meetings
  22. Cross train and perform other office functions including phone triage, check-in/check-out, scheduling, or medical record documentation as directed by the Practice Manager
  23. Check inventory and order supplies for all sites
  24. Assess functionality of equipment
  25. Oversee and ensure regulatory compliance for all sites
  26. Provide input and feedback into clinical processes
  27. Provide input and feedback into risk management processes
  28. Cross-coverage of ambulatory infusion needs for Infusion Care and Shot Clinic clients
  29. Any other duties and/or special projects as assigned by Administrative Staff
  30. Possess the ability to deal with patients, visitors/relatives, co-workers, pharmacists/pharmacies, insurance company benefits coordinators/representatives, healthcare representatives, and physicians/providers with courtesy and respect
  31. Display a professional, outgoing, warm and helpful attitude
  32. Possess compassion for dealing with people who are ill and in need of help
  33. Plan, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks effectively and in a timely manner
  34. Work under pressure; assess, respond, and communicate issues in a timely manner
  35. Communicate clearly via telephone, secure communication, in writing, and in-person
  36. Interpret and apply clinical and non-clinical policies and procedures
  37. Must be computer literate and able to operate electronic healthcare systems and multiple Microsoft Office applications with ease

Position Qualifications:

  1. Minimum Education Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.
  2. Minimum Experience 3 years of experience in Physician office

Required Registration / License / Certification CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain)

  1. Preferred Education Medical Assistant Associate Degree
  2. Preferred Experience Prior knowledge of an electronic health record
  3. Prior knowledge of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology specialty
  4. Preferred Registration / License / Certification Medical Assistant Certification
  5. Other Requirements N/A


Physical Requirements:

Physical Demands Coordination, manual, and physical dexterity sufficient to properly and adequately use various items of medical equipment and office equipment as required of the position or directed by the coordinator/manage. The position may involve sitting, standing, bending, and stopping. Repetitive motion or fixed position for prolonged periods. Employee must be capable of lifting up-to 25 pounds

  1. Environmental Demands - Normal medical office environment: this environment may involve dealing with a high traffic volume of patients and stressful situations requiring the ability to think cleaning, work independently, respond quickly, communicate effective; and to be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, while staying organized.
