Job Description
We are currently looking for a Silicon Photonics Engineer to join the silicon photonics team. The role will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of CMOS, LiDAR, and system designers to develop innovative chip-scale LiDAR systems based on silicon photonics technology, and high speed electro-optic transceiners. Tasks will include design and test of silicon photonics components, which will then be integrated by the candidate in complex photonic systems. III/V design experience and/or epitaxy design is a plus. The candidate will work with a variety of teams to support the calibration, operation, and qualification of these chip-scale systems. This is a great opportunity for anyone with the requisite background who wants to gain experience in product design, prototyping, and manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, Model, Layout and Verification of III-V/Silicon Photonics devices
- Work with wafer-scale/die-scale tester to develop seamless data acquisition
- Interface with packaging service suppliers and communicating technical drawings.
- Generate reports for internal deliverables and external customer interaction
- Execute current and new projects from start to finish
- Contribute technically to new funding opportunities
Required Qualifications
- M.S. (Ph.D. preferred) in electrical engineering, applied physics, or related field
- 5 years of integrated photonics component or system design and test
- Electromagnetic simulations in FDTD, Modesolvers, etc. (e.g. Lumerical/Synopsys)
- Mask layout experience
- Photonic component testing experience with standard positioners, tunable lasers
- Proficient in scientific analysis software (MATLAB, Python)
Ideal Qualifications
- Familiarity with Silicon Photonics Design
- Familiarity with III-V Design
- Die-Scale/Wafer-Scale Prober or Photonics Lab equipment automation and remote control
- Chip-scale Optoelectronics Packaging
- Experience modelling active and passive photonic components and developing PDKs
