Description Summary The Radiology Transporter performs a wide variety of routine duties including clerical, technical, and patient related functions. The transporter is responsible for assisting members of the patient care team and providing a broad range of health care services such as patient check-in, exam review, preparation for the visit, patient support & comfort needs, assistance with exams and procedures, and patient transporting to and from work area. The Radiology Transporter is trained to use the computers and software in the Radiology Department.

- The Radiology Transporter performs clerical duties, including record keeping, and maintains high quality services.
- Communicates effectively with patients/families and all care providers.
- Interacts with staff and co-workers in a manner that promotes positive working relationships and demonstrates the ability to follow orders as instructed with patient care.
- Schedules exams in CPSI as needed.
- Burns Imaging studies onto a disc and exporting imaging studies to other hospital via PACS.
- Comply with all HIPAA rules and regulations.
- Adheres to established organizational protocols, QA guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Assists the technologist with coordinating work assignments to ensure a smooth workflow.
- Participates in other duties as assigned with an eager and positive attitude.
- Verifies accurate information, using two patient identifiers.
- Provides quality customer service, explains all studies to patient in a clear and concise manner, and provides information and resources to patient and family.
- Safely transfers patients to and from carts, beds, and wheelchairs utilizing proper lifting devices and techniques.
- Ensures patient comfort and modesty.
- Communicates appropriately and clearly to supervisor, coworkers, hospital personnel, nursing, and physicians.
- Understands Standard Precautions and the use of PPE.
Competencies - Transporter competency, as developed by Boone Memorial Hospital.
Supervisory Responsibilities Physical demands - Ability to perform various motor skills such as; standing or sitting for long periods of time, walking, lifting (up to 50 pounds) using proper lifting techniques, stair climbing, reaching, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, squatting, grasping and arm-hand coordination on a continuous basis.
Travel required Required education and experience - High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred education and experience - One (1) year experience in healthcare setting, Radiology preferred.

Qualifications Required Skills, Qualifications, and Competencies - Hold and maintain a Medical Imaging License in the State of West Virginia
- Complete annual Care Learning module and departmental competencies annually.
- CPR certification
- Annual Pelvic Ultrasound Probe Disinfection training

Travel required Required education and experience - Must be a graduate of an accredited Radiologist Technologist Program or Diagnostic Sonography Program.
- Must hold credentials of Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or equivalent
Preferred education and experience - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registered
- One year of experience in acute care setting or physicians office.
- Additional registries within the sonography specialties.
