Responsibilities:
- Makes deliveries, deposits, and pickups as assigned. Coordinates with the telecommunications operator in following established van schedule.
- Monitors the schedule and need and/or performs routine cleaning and maintenance of van.
- Drives, transports and/or accompanies Seniors/clients on visits outside the facility including loading/unloading senior/client from vehicles as necessary from a Tabitha van/vehicle, securing Seniors/clients wheelchairs and walkers in van to stabilize them during trips.
- Assists Seniors/clients in preparing for leaving, including assisting in dressing, obtaining wheelchair or walker, if appropriate, obtaining appropriate documentation/information and escorting Senior/client to the lobby and into the van.
- Assist with completion of forms at the physicians office or hospital. Return necessary equipment and information/documentation to the facility.
- Assists with orientation of new employees.
- Willingly works on the clinical floors when no appointments are scheduled and/or as needed during regularly scheduled hours:
- Provides assistance with activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, transferring/ambulation and continence.
- Follows department protocol for submission of completed documentation.
- Prioritizes assignments, making adjustments throughout shift to meet frequently changing/ overlapping Senior/client/caregiver/TEAMember/manager needs, call lights, when necessary.
- Performs work duties within the assigned work environment related to the position, as assigned by Tabitha, regardless of TEAMember preference.
Qualifications:
Communication: Sufficient fluency to be able to understand and follow written or verbal instructions, provide instruction to others, read and understand a care plan/service plan, policies, procedures or other similar documentation, interact successfully with others.
Physical Requirements: Ability to gain access to the work area and then safely perform the duties of the job while utilizing standard and specialized equipment. Vision and hearing within normal limits (with or without correction). Must have unrestricted lift/push/pull ability and pass a 50 - pound physical exam demonstrating strength and agility prior to employment and at Tabithas discretion.
Equipment Usage: Standard and specialized equipment including but not limited to gait belts, wheelchairs, ambulation equipment (canes, walkers, crutches, etc.), telephone, computer, walkie talkie, pager, and Tabitha Van/Vehicle.
Age Requirement: At least age 18.
Education : High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience: 6 months experience as an aide or caregiver preferred. Experience driving vans or delivery vehicle preferred.
Credentials: CNA Certification in good standing as demonstrated by inclusion on the Nebraska State Registry, required or must be willing to obtain CNA Certification within 6 months of hire. CPR required. First Aid required. Valid Nebraska Drivers license (unless otherwise allowed by law) and a good driving record required. Must possess auto insurance at or above Nebraska statutory requirements. All certifications must be kept up to date at the expense of the employee. Must meet Tabithas vaccination requirements.
