Title - ECA Supervisor
Location - Stouffville, ON
Pay Rate - $24 - $28/hr.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and Implement Activities : Develop and deliver engaging, hands-on activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. Activities should align with developmental milestones and the educational philosophy of the daycare/school.
- Create a Safe and Nurturing Environment : Foster a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom atmosphere where children feel secure and confident to explore and learn. Ensure that the environment is child-centered and conducive to learning.
- Observe and Assess Children’s Development : Regularly observe, document, and assess children’s progress in areas such as motor skills, language, social interactions, and emotional development. Provide individualized support where needed.
- Build Positive Relationships with Children and Families : Develop trusting, supportive relationships with children and their families. Communicate regularly with parents about their child’s progress, concerns, and achievements.
- Support Emotional and Behavioral Development : Use positive guidance techniques to help children understand and manage their emotions and behaviors. Foster social skills, empathy, and respect for others.
- Promote Health and Safety : Ensure the health and safety of children at all times by following policies and procedures related to health, nutrition, and hygiene. Administer first aid and medication when necessary.
- Collaborate with the Team : Work closely with fellow educators and staff to create a positive, collaborative work environment. Attend team meetings and contribute to the development of educational programs and initiatives.
- Communicate with directors regarding ongoing daily activities involving parents, staff, teachers, and students.
- Reporting : prepare and submit incident reports, communicate with directors regarding any incidents that occur on school premises.
- Maintain Classroom Organization : Keep the classroom organized, ensuring that toys, materials, and equipment are clean, safe, and accessible. Ensure that learning resources are age-appropriate and well-maintained.
- Continual Professional Development : Stay updated on the latest research and trends in early childhood education. Participate in professional development opportunities, workshops, and seminars to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Digital Communication: Navigate apps similar to Lilio and maintain communication with parents. Ensure students are checked in upon arrival and checked out upon dismissal. Communicate with closing and opening staff to ensure attendance is maintained through application software.
Qualifications:
- Education : Early Childhood Education Diploma or Degree (or equivalent).
- Certification : Current registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) (if applicable).
- Montessori accreditation not compulsory, but bonus.
- Experience : Prior experience working with young children, preferably in a daycare, preschool, or early childhood setting.
Skills :
- Strong knowledge of child development and early learning theories.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to plan, implement, and assess developmentally appropriate activities.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.
Clearance :
Criminal background check (Vulnerable Sector Check) and up-to-date first aid certification required!
