Key Responsibilities:
Wireless Network Design and Implementation:
- Conduct site surveys, RF planning, and optimal AP placement for robust wireless coverage.
- Plan and implement complex wireless network solutions using Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs), Access Points (APs), and associated technologies.
Troubleshooting and Optimization:
- Diagnose and resolve wireless network performance issues, including RF interference, channel utilization, and roaming optimization.
- Implement solutions to enhance network performance and ensure high availability.
Mobility Management: Configure and troubleshoot mobility features such as seamless roaming, load balancing, and network segmentation.
Security and Compliance:
- Implement and maintain wireless security best practices (e.g., WPA/WPA2/WPA3 encryption, guest access policies).
- Ensure adherence to industry security standards and compliance requirements such as PCI DSS or HIPAA.
Automation and Orchestration: Leverage tools like Cisco DNA Center for efficient network management and automation.
Vendor Coordination: Work with wireless vendors for hardware procurement, technical support, and maintenance.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, designs, and troubleshooting procedures.
Core Competencies and Skills:
Wireless Expertise:
- Proficiency in Cisco Wireless Technologies, including WLCs, APs, and RF management.
- Strong knowledge of IEEE 802.11 standards (a/b/g/n/ac/ax) and Wi-Fi Alliance certifications.
Network Protocols: In-depth understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and RADIUS.
Technical Tools: Experience with Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Wireshark, and other network management tools.
Security: Knowledge of wireless security protocols and best practices.
Operating Systems: Proficiency in Windows, macOS, and Linux environments.
Qualifications:
Certifications:
- Cisco CCNP Wireless (or higher) preferred.
- CWNP certifications (e.g., CWAP, CWSP) are a plus.
Experience:
- Proven experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting Cisco wireless networks.
- Familiarity with network automation and orchestration platforms.
