Audiovisual Rack Fabricator / Commissioning Engineer

We are looking for a skilled professional to assemble, configure, and commission AV systems, including projectors, displays, audio equipment, and control interfaces. This role involves interpreting design specifications, troubleshooting technical issues, and collaborating with project teams. A strong understanding of AV equipment, signal flow, and industry standards, along with attention to detail and problem-solving skills, is essential. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and demonstrates technical proficiency and teamwork.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Checks out/ inventories equipment required for rack fabrication from the warehouse. Works with internal project stakeholders to verify all work complies with company and client quality control standards prior to completing work.
- Unbox, and install a wide variety of AV related equipment to company standards. Terminate a wide variety of wires and connectors and document testing to company standards. Provide a high level of both technical and aesthetically pleasing final product within established task durations.
- Document and communicate work status to internal project stakeholders.
- Maintain company and personal tools.
- Properly checking equipment in and out of the warehouse.
- Unboxing and re-boxing equipment for testing and configuration.
- Loading firmware, code, DSP files, and other hardware configurations.
- Documenting all required hardware information and settings.
- Fully setting up AV systems, testing, troubleshooting, updating, and retesting systems until they operate at peak performance meeting the stated customer requirements.
- Troubleshooting issues and working with the proper vendor and/ or internal resources to determine root causes.
- Processing vendor related to RMAs.
- Backing up final code versions and system documentation.
- Communicate project status and lessons learned to internal stakeholders.
- Assist with adding and documenting consumables to projects so installation teams have a complete, executable equipment package when they arrive onsite.
- The ability to act on supervisor instructions.
Experience and Skills:
- At least 3 years experience working in the AV/VTC industry in an applicable role, preferably as a rack fabricator.
- Ability to work, think, determine, and then establish priority of urgency quickly and accurately with little oversight to meet deadlines in an organized manner.
- Working knowledge of a wide range of audio, video, networking equipment, and software including, but not limited to Biamp, Crestron, Extron, AMX, QSC, and Cisco.
- Knowledge of national building/ safety codes, and industry best practices.
- Advanced fabrication and installation skills.
- Ability to read and work from AV and general construction drawings.
- Competence in system configuration, software installation, and hardware installation of common AV equipment in a production type environment.
- Ability to safely use both power and hand tools.
- Understanding of low voltage electrical installation practices and concepts.
- Ability to lift 75 lbs.
- Ability to bend, squat, and kneel.
- Ability to work on ladders for long periods.
- Ability to pass background checks and work in secure government facilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
