Bioinformatics Data Engineer

Location: California, Oakland (Hybrid – 2/3 days per week onsite)

Overview

A cutting edge, AI-first, Biotech Startup ($40M+ Funding) in the protein design space is looking to hire a new, experienced Bioinformatics Data Engineer. They’re developing deep generative models to design and validate novel, functional proteins and are revolutionizing biomedicine.

These generative models unlock the blueprint of life by analyzing vast evolutionary datasets, empowering the team to engineer and shape biology like never before. As the boundaries of possibility are pushed, the volume of genomic data is expanding at an exponential rate. This role focuses on managing and deriving insights from this rapidly growing reservoir of information.

The Team

With a team consisting of PHD Grads from the World’s best schools and veterans from the likes of, AstraZeneca, Zymergen, Meta, & Microsoft – this is a opportunity to work with subject matter experts in the Biotech space.

As an early team member and standalone Bioinformatics Data Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in building the foundations of our data and cloud architecture. You will have the autonomy to make critical decisions and directly influence the success of our mission to harness the power of data for machine learning.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in relevant fields of study
• 3+ years of industry experience in similar positions
• Experience in Bioinformatics or Biotech (e.g. molecular biology, biochemistry, genome structure, etc..)
• Experience with Cloud Platforms and Pipelines
• Expertise with Python data analysis tools & SQL Programming
