Job Description

A highly regarded law firm is seeking skilled applicants for their entry level Paralegal opening in the firm's Boston office. This is a contract, hybrid position working in the firm's Business Immigration department . The paralegal will work with a team of legal professionals that work on a wide range of US non-immigrant and immigrant matters. The successful candidate will have strong writing skills, and have earned their Bachelor degree, GPA of 3.3 or higher. An interest in immigration law is strongly preferred. The client is also seeking applicants that will be with them for a minimum of one year, ideally 2+ before returning to school. Relevant internship experience focused in law, research, and/or writing is strongly preferred. Availability for daily and weekend overtime is a must.


  • Pay starting at $21/hour, full-time salary at $52k/year
  • Contract position with the possibility to go Temp-To-Perm based on performance
  • Hybrid role, 2-3 days in the office per week
  • Immediate hiring need



Day to day responsibilities:

  • Assist foreign nationals and/or clients with applying H-1B and L nonimmigrant visas, and employment based permanent residency.
  • Draft letters and cases, assist with legal research, perform administrative job duties, and provide assistance with special projects as needed.

How will you make a difference as a Paralegal?

  • Learn about the various types of immigration matters and build knowledge of firm, immigration case types and client processes.
  • Perform tasks related to case preparation and filing of petitions with government agencies, including document gathering, document review, case drafting, and case filing.
  • With the guidance of your supervisor, communicate with foreign nationals and client contacts, providing clear and prompt responses regarding case status or other general inquiries.
  • Meet assigned deadlines that adhere to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and communicate case progress, status, escalations to supervisor.
  • Compile and summarize large quantities of data within case management systems for reporting to clients, managers and team.
  • Understand and contribute to team and individual productivity goals.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and initiative.
  • Follow documented firm standards and policies to mitigate risk and ensure regulatory, operational and client compliance (e.g., following Data Privacy protocols, using Connect accurately and in line with team and client protocols, etc.).


Leverage your valuable skills and experience to make an impact:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree, Paralegal certification OR experience in a customer facing or client service-oriented role
  • A client-service mindset, attention to details and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing demands
  • The ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and escalate case issues to supervisor
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to proofread documents, draft fluent prose, and avoid grammatical mistakes without the aid of AI engines
  • Experience using various computer systems, including MS Word and Excel
  • Desire to contribute to positive work environment, effectively collaborate and promote teamwork



LOD offers non-attorney flexible talent placement rates that range from $15 to $100 per hour depending upon experience level and specific skills requested by the client, the candidate’s general skill set, the applicability of the candidate's skill set to client need, client budget, number of hours requested, and other factors. A specific rate of pay for a project will be discussed with you if it is determined that you are a potential fit for a role.
