Job Summary

The Director of Information Technology at Otsuka America, Inc. (OAI) reports to the VP of IT & CISO and collaborates with OAI affiliates across North America, the corporate office in Japan, and regional offices globally, including Europe. This hands-on role is responsible for overseeing the delivery of IT shared services across multiple North American affiliate companies. The position includes the overall planning, development, and execution of IT strategies, encompassing infrastructure, hardware, software, networking systems, and ensuring that all technology solutions align with OAI's regional objectives.

Additionally, the role includes overseeing contracts and managing electronic office systems, which may encompass personal computers, file servers, email systems, internet resources, electronic forms, local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN), software applications, telephone systems, and general office equipment (e.g., copiers, fax machines, and postal metering systems).


Job Description

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, direct, evaluate, and maintain the company’s LAN and WAN hardware and software infrastructure.
  • Manage the installation, upgrade, and performance monitoring of IT systems and services.
  • Manage software vendor contracts for the region.
  • Develop and implement IT infrastructure strategies, including cloud-based solutions.
  • Provide training for users on hardware, software, and office equipment.
  • Respond to user requests, issues, and problems related to software, hardware, and equipment.
  • Assist subsidiaries and the parent company with IT-related issues as needed.
  • Oversee and maintain the company’s phone system, and recommend replacement for fax, copier, and postal metering equipment.
  • Maintain communication services (email, internet) and coordinate with other locations.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Develop and execute a network strategy to support both current and future operations.
  • Create and maintain corporate hardware/software policies and standards.


Qualifications/Required

Knowledge/ Experience and Skills:

Experience:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including prior leadership experience leading IT teams and the ability to manage hands-on tasks.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong expertise in network design and architecture.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS.
  • In-depth knowledge of telecommunications equipment, software, and communication mediums (e.g., the internet).
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft software products.

Contract Management:

  • Experience in preparing requests for proposals and negotiating equipment purchase contracts.

Communication Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.


Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)

Pay Range

The starting base pay for this position in the San Francisco Bay area is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, paid time off, and a benefits package including but not limited to company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and a generous 401(k) match.


$220,000/year - $255,000/year
