Responsibilities:
- Design test equipment to achieve component and product testing objectives
- Fabricate and assemble prototype parts
- Conduct lab tests and organize results into test reports
- Design next generation Electric Vehicle DC fast charging components
- Prepare drawings of various mechanical parts, electrical wiring harnesses and schematics derived from specifications and product requirements using Creo Parametric
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of bill of materials (BOM)
- Initiate Engineering Change Orders (ECO) from change requests affecting specification drawings, work instructions and other controlled documents
- Perform mechanical integrity testing on prototypes
- Support 3rd party compliance testing
- Support the cross functional team for new product introduction
- Diagnosis and resolve manufacturing and quality issues for parts and assemblies in production
- Utilizes various software tools to prepare other technical drawings and documentation
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 2+ years’ experience in electronics packaging design
- 3D CAD design and drawing proficiency
- Design experience using sheet metal, extrusion & injection molding processes
- Lab testing and report writing
- Experience with mechanical fabrication in lab environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Bonus Points:
- 5+ years’ experience in electronics packaging
- Design experience using PTC Creo Parametric CAD software package
- Proficient with Creo Sheet Metal & Cabling Extension
- Experience with Creo Harness Manufacturing Extension "HMX"
- Proficient in the use of Arena and Windchill PLM
- Understanding of the applications of ASME Y14.5
- Successfully implemented mechanical & thermal solutions for power electronic devices
- Experience in Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment product design
- Industrial design background with an eye for product aesthetic design
