Summary
Maintenance Technicians are responsible for keeping machines in good working conditions to enhance efficiency and prevent malfunctions that could lead to costly repairs. To do this, the associate is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, preventive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Assists in running an efficient maintenance operation which is able to fulfill operational and customer demand and meet set targets.
· Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
· Ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met by working to the overall plan, including management of, and reporting.
· Record and document all work carried out on all equipment in the L2L system, as required
· Liaise with Production and Quality departments to ensure highest level of quality is achieved after any intervention and throughout the working life of equipment.
· Provides feedback to the Management team to share ideas and improve operation. Recommends, supports and implements continuous improvement activities, processes, and procedure improvements to optimize results and improve quality of delivery.
· Assists in training, coaching and mentoring fellow mechanics/technicians on proper maintenance practices to include but not limited to safe work practices, equipment theory of operation, proper troubleshooting techniques and best-practice repair procedures, etc.
· Trains other team members in the areas of instrumentation, control, and electrical systems.
· Associate is at the advanced level in Mechanics, Electrical and other disciplines and can be responsible for any of the areas below:
o Electrical- A high degree of working knowledge and practical application of instrumentation, controls, low, medium and high voltage switchgear, transformers, programmable logic controllers, protective relays and motor control centers. Performs maintenance on motor control centers, motor operated valves, programmable logic controllers.
o Electronics–Associate is responsible for installing, maintaining, testing, and troubleshooting of instrumentation, controls, and electrical /electronic systems. Troubleshoots and performs maintenance on AC and DC power equipment, process controls, programmable logic controls (PLC) and monitoring equipment.
o Mechanical- Advanced troubleshooting technique used to diagnose the root of the problem and inspect, repair, and test the machinery. Uses knowledge and skills to pursue continuous improvement initiatives to drive OEE improvements. Modifies and/or replaces parts on all production and facility equipment as needed.
o Pneumatic/Hydraulic - Maintains replaces and repairs all pneumatic/Hydraulic equipment and troubleshoot complex pneumatic system issues.
o Additional Trades - Possesses and applies an advanced knowledge of particular field of specialization to the completion of projects of major complexity such as: Welding, Plumbing, Carpentry, etc.
o Plant Systems - Monitor and maintain Waste Water equipment, Boilers, Air compressors, Air conditioning, Dust collectors, and other plant utility systems. Identify energy loss and correct issues.
· Use Reference Resources such as “work books and drawings”, technical manuals, understanding of industrial equipment, and careful observation to discover the cause of a problem
· Proactively identify, assess and determine appropriate controls for Safety related issues; influence other associates to identify and resolve Safety related issues.
· Demonstrates general understanding of industrial safety practices and regulations, and in particular such topics as: Lock-out/Tag-out procedures, Fall protection, Personal protective equipment, and all other mandatory safety procedures related to the job.
· Actively Participates on the Safety Committee.
· Leads Root Cause Analysis (RCA) cross functional team in problem solving projects.
· Lead the development of innovative solutions to unique problems.
· Adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) that are in effect assuring the quality and quantity of product produced.
· Understand and maintain high standards of tidiness and organization in line with good 5S (Sort, t in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) practice
· Support, comply and ensure complicity with Health & Safety regulations, the Company Handbook, Quality and Environmental standards, and all other Company policies and procedures
· Follow all Food Safety/Quality Policies established at the facility. This includes adherence to GFSI certification requirements
Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED; (Associate degree, Trade School Certificate and/or Military Technical Training, a plus).
· Minimum of 5 or more years of experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry and/or under cGMP regulations.
· Must currently have and maintain any specific certification and/or permit for their functional area.
· Demonstrated experience in leading and developing (multi-skilled) people
· Knowledge of and experience with food processing machinery.
· Experience of working with facilities management, a plus
· Technical knowledge and ability in electrical troubleshooting, including replacement of three phase motors, & knowledge in PLC’s (Allen Bradley or Siemens)
· Mechanical, electrical, electronic or software background with a working knowledge of the other disciplines
· Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and recognized QC (Quality Control) tools
· Proficiency in computer (Microsoft Office, Excel) and basic math skills
· Proficient reading, writing and verbal communication skills in English
