Essential Functions:

- Provides leadership on estimating processes, methodology, and tools that span multiple business units.
- Comprehension of the desired technical knowledge items at a level that allows mentoring and training of company staff.
- Participates in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization.
- Evaluates data and metrics to propose new strategies to improve project delivery and develop reports that portray and give external stakeholders visibility into the project landscape.
- Establishes and nurtures relationships with industry professionals, suppliers, prime contractors, subcontractors, public agencies, and internal customers.
- Supports other department personnel as required
- Reviews RFP’s/Design Docs and prepares RFI’s as needed.
- Attends Pre-Bid Meetings and/or Site walks to ascertain project requirements and risks.
- Prepares written estimates, coordinated with other trade estimates, for clients based on labor, materials, equipment, and other expenses.
- Assists in the assembly of project schedule with mechanical systems installation timelines.
- Manages pre-qualification and pre-bid submissions.
- Maintains accurate cost records and database of mechanical systems costs.
- Creates the project BOM for the estimate and submit for pricing from vendors or subcontractors, including piping and ductwork systems and components.
- Formulates contingency plans and effectively manages risks that might impact cost and time estimates.
- Attends estimate review meetings with the Leadership Team.
- Communicates with field supervision and operations leadership about delays and any other issues that must be communicated to clients.
- Maintains an elevated level of professionalism with clients, vendors, and colleagues; works to establish a positive working relationship.
- Reviews design options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
- Provides timely and completed documentation of work performed.
- Operates vehicles and other equipment safely; adheres to safety protocols; reports hazards and risks; behavior contributes to a safe and secure working environment
Required Education and Experience:
- 7+ years of Mechanical Estimating experience
- Working knowledge of electrical and control systems supporting the Mechanical equipment and overall system operation.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Applied Science or Architecture or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ Commercial general contractor experience
- SCIF Construction experience a plus
- Active Security Clearance a plus (or ability to obtain clearance)
