Job Description:
We seek a dynamic and collaborative Principal Scientist to spearhead our Immune-Oncology Drug Development efforts. The Principal Scientist will design, conduct, and analyze key mechanism-of-action studies, support lead optimization, and candidate development studies, and establish early signs of efficacy, through proof-of-concept studies using in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo models. This pivotal role demands a hands-on scientist who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and is comfortable juggling multiple responsibilities within a resource-limited setting. In this role, you will take full ownership of Immune-Oncology projects, ensuring their success by leveraging your expertise, creativity, and resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages small-molecule and biological drug discovery programs, overseeing all phases of project execution with a focus on R&D outcomes.
- Spearheads the conceptualization and design of drug discovery programs to ensure the development of innovative Immune-Oncology therapies while taking full ownership of project outcomes.
- Design and perform mechanism of action studies.
- Work collaboratively with cross-disciplinary teams, including Medicinal Chemistry, Structural Biology, Protein Chemistry, and Biophysics.
- Identify and develop short-, mid-, and long-term R&D objectives alongside senior management.
- Prioritize and coordinate research activities and allocate resources between internal staff and external contract research organizations (CROs).
- Proactively communicate project strategy, anticipate potential issues, and recommend appropriate resource decisions.
- Stays informed of innovative methods and technologies and acts as a scientific thought leader within the company.
Qualifications :
- PhD and/or MD with a primary focus in Immunology, Oncology, Cellular or Molecular Biology, or Pharmacology.
- 6-8 years of relevant experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment; 5- years of industry experience preferred.
- Substantial expertise in Immune-Oncology drug development and a thorough understanding of preclinical drug development strategy with a deep understanding of pharmacodynamic principles and biomarker discovery. IND-enabling studies knowledge desired.
- Demonstrable hands-on experience in all aspects of hit-generation, advancing small molecule or biological drugs through lead optimization to candidate selection
- Strong track record of critical thinking and scientific achievements as demonstrated by publications in scientific journals
- Expertise in managing, and running preclinical studies, including designing and implementing protocols and SOPs.
- Strong data management and visualization skills, with experience collaborating with other scientists to enhance data analysis and representation.
- Outstanding analytical, research, and communication skills (written and oral)
- Exceptional organizational, project, and people management skills, demonstrating leadership informed by deep expertise and a commitment to innovation.
