Medical Billing/Invoicing Coordinator
Location: Hybrid (Tuesday-Thursday on-site in Mason, OH)
Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (with a 30-minute lunch)
Type: 6 month temp with possibility for permanent conversion
Pay Rate: $20.00/hour
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Billing/Invoicing Coordinator to support a busy healthcare team. This role involves monitoring insurance carrier adjudication of medical claims, submitting claims, and ensuring timely action on unpaid balances. If you have experience in medical vision claims and coding, this is a great opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team with the potential for a long-term role.
Responsibilities:
- Review and transmit medical claims to insurance carriers using electronic health records (EHR) systems and clearing houses.
- Monitor rejected claim reports and make adjustments for resubmission.
- Post claim payments and denials in the EHR system using insurance carrier evidence of benefits (EOBs).
- Investigate and resolve denied claims, ensuring timely resubmissions within carrier filing limits.
- Research open balances on aging reports and take appropriate action.
- Utilize insurance carrier websites and contact carriers to investigate claim denials and statuses.
- Partner with clearing houses to distribute patient billing statements and post payments via the patient portal.
- Process overpayment refunds to patients and repayments to insurance carriers.
- Write off open claim balances as needed.
- Serve as the primary contact for vision and medical claims for the practice.
- Support the corporate manager in maximizing the claim collection rate.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 3+ years of experience in medical billing, vision claims, and coding.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a high-volume environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in ophthalmology billing for multi-doctor practices.
- Familiarity with multiple insurance carriers and their claim requirements.
Additional Requirements:
- Completion of mandatory compliance and security training within the first three weeks.
- Monthly OIG/GSA/OFAC screenings (to be submitted as part of ongoing compliance).
This is a hybrid role requiring in-office attendance Tuesday through Thursday. No degree is required, but relevant experience is essential.
