Role: Platform Engineer III
Duration: 12+ Months Contract
Location: Cincinnati Ohio 45202
As a Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive support for a wide range of third-party data platforms. Your expertise will ensure the smooth operation and optimization of these platforms, enabling our business to make data-driven decisions effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide platform support for various third-party data platforms, including but not limited to DataStage, SAS, Tableau, PowerBI, Business Objects, DataIku, Denodo, Atacamma, Alation, BigID, CloudPak, NiFi, Kafka, Lenses, and Confluence.
- Maintain the company platform uptime, performance, stability, and scalability
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the supported platforms, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate and maintain data platforms within the existing infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain Bash scripts to automate routine tasks and improve system efficiency.
- Monitor platform performance using solutions such as Dynatrace, identifying and addressing potential issues proactively.
- Continual improvement and fine-tuning of various alerting and monitoring systems.
- Provide guidance and support to end-users, ensuring they can effectively utilize the data platforms.
- Document processes, procedures, and best practices for platform support and maintenance.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in data platforms and related technologies.
- Lead platform related projects (including planning, communicating, and executing) such as migration efforts to new platforms or decommissioning obsolete platforms.
Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems.
- Proven experience in supporting third-party products and data platforms.
- Proficiency in writing and maintaining Bash scripts.
- Experience with monitoring solutions such as Dynatrace.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to AWS services (Lambda, RDS, ECS, S3, etc)
- Ability to read and write Python code.
- Familiarity with governance and security best practices.
