R&D Partners is seeking to hire an Associate Scientist II in San Carlos, CA .
A rapidly growing vaccine company is looking for an Associate Scientist II who will contribute to the research and development of a novel bacterial polysaccharide conjugate vaccine. The candidate will work within the Research Department to perform analytical assays and characterization testing for in-process intermediates and drug substances.
Your main responsibilities as an Associate Scientist II:
- Routine in-house testing, buffer preparation, sample analysis, data reporting, instrument purchase, qualification, maintenance, troubleshooting, lab safety, etc.
- You will be working with a cross-functional team to streamline core analytical characterization technologies to meet the vaccine pipeline development timeline, some of which include HPLC-SEC, RP-HPLC, SEC-MALS, GCMS or HPAEC-PAD, SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, colorimetric plate-based assays, BCA, Anthrone, PicoGreen, ELISA, MSD, DSF, CE-SDS, and CE-IEF.
- Independently perform routine in-house assays and buffer preparations to analyze and characterize our in- process intermediates and drug substances, which consist of protein, polysaccharides, and protein- polysaccharide conjugates. Assays include: HPLC-SEC, RP-HPLC, SEC-MALS; GCMS or HPAEC-PAD SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, microplate assays, both colorimetric (BCA, Anthrone, PicoGreen) and enzyme-based assays (ELISA/MSD); DSF, CE-SDS, and CE-IEF
- Responsible for routine instrument maintenance (HPLC, SEC-MAL, GCMS, HPEAC-PAD) and troubleshooting.
- Assist in the development of new analytical assays and methods.
- Troubleshoot various issues during analytical method development and routine sample testing.
What we are looking for in an Associate Scientist II:
- A BS in chemistry, analytical chemistry preferred, and organic / biochemistry considered, with 2+ years of relevant industry experience or an MS with 1+ year experience.
- Direct experience operating Agilent HPLC using OpenLab/ Chemstation software and/or Waters UPLC and Empower software for data acquisition and analysis.
- Broad hands-on experience with chemical and biological assays such as colorimetric/ fluorometric microplate assays, HPLC, CE, UV-Vis, ELISA, and LC-MS.
- Experience with mass spectrometry, GCMS, or HPAEC-PAD is highly desired.
- Understand basic principles of analytical method development/ validation/ qualification concepts.
- This position is lab-based and requires onsite presence 5 days a week.
Pay Scale:
$85,000 - $91,500 annually
