Summary

NAVFAC NW is looking to fill 3 (Three) Supervisory Mechanical Engineers at our Silverdale, WA (Naval Base Kitsap) location. Come be part of Team that has been tasked to perform a few "Special Projects" in the Great NW. We have 4 (Four) Major Facilities that will be receiving upgrades and need some Great Decision makers to take part!


Duties include but not Limited to:

  • Evaluate engineering design, construction, operation, maintenance, and repair of utilities equipment and systems to resolve any issues in a timely matter.
  • Resolve engineering problems with architectural and engineering contractors, experts from other engineering functions, and co-workers.
  • Write documentation to resolve disagreements concerning facilities engineering issues.
  • Mentor junior level engineers and technicians in the design and fabrication of mechanical components.


Qualifications

This position has a Selective Placement Factor (SPF) which is CURRENT registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any state, District of Columbia, Guam or Puerto Rico. If you meet this requirement, you MUST provide a copy of your current registration with your application. Note - a copy of a wall certificate, without an expiration date, will not serve to verify this requirement.


**Current and Former Competitive Federal Employees**

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.


Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

1) Mechanical design and evaluation of HVAC Systems, Plumbing, Control Systems, Design and Testing.

2) Facility engineering and design support including quality control, engineering design, and construction management, scoping and fee proposals, and negotiations.

3) Design Management, Project planning, work assignment, budget tracking, specifications, cost estimates and project quality control of facilities.

4) Construction Support making recommendations, deviations, changes when necessary.

5) Leading and consulting in depth knowledge to resolve issues related to engineering design.


Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • This position requires current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect (RA) in any state, District of Columbia, Guam or Puerto Rico.
  • This position may require occasional travel from normal duty station. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
