Job Description

The Estimating Manager is responsible for leading the estimating team to develop competitive and accurate quotes for customers, ensuring alignment with ALIGN’s business goals and client expectations. This role includes overseeing the contract review process post-award, supervising ERP system entries, and driving customer communication and negotiation efforts. The Estimating Manager plays a critical role in maintaining metrics such as win/loss rates and Book-to-Bill ratios while ensuring seamless collaboration across departments. The position reports directly to the Director of Production Control.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Team Leadership & Workflow Management
  • Oversee and guide the estimating team to prepare competitive and precise quotes tailored to customer requirements.
  • Assign incoming RFQs (Requests for Quotes) to appropriate estimators for timely and efficient processing.
  • Review open quote requests and make informed decisions on whether to pursue opportunities or decline based on strategic alignment.
  1. Customer Relations & Negotiation
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer communication regarding estimates, revisions, and negotiations.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to foster trust and repeat business.
  • Assist the estimating group by reviewing contractual requirements during the bidding process.
  1. Post-Award Supervision
  • Ensure awarded quotes transition smoothly into contracts that align with quoted terms and stipulations.
  • Oversee accurate entry of orders into the ERP system to enable successful execution.
  1. Metrics Tracking & Reporting
  • Track and analyze key metrics, including win/loss ratios and Book-to-Bill performance.
  • Utilize data insights to improve estimating strategies and overall team performance.
  1. Collaboration with Departments
  • Work closely with departments such as Sales, Production Control, and Operations to ensure seamless integration of estimating activities within broader company processes.
  1. Process Improvement & Compliance
  • Continuously evaluate and improve estimating practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with internal company policies and client requirements.


Qualifications

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, or experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Experience : Proven experience in estimating, project management, or a related role, with leadership responsibilities.
  • Skills :
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and familiarity with RFQ processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent people and communication skills a must.
