MERCHANDISE PLANNER
Job Summary: The Merchandise Planner analyzes sales trends, forecasts demand, and develops inventory plans to maximize profitability and minimize excess inventory. They will work closely with
various teams such as Buying, Operations, and Finance to ensure alignment with company goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Analysis : Analyze historical sales data and current market trends to identify patterns and
make informed decisions regarding inventory levels.
Demand Forecasting: Utilize metrics, market research, and input from various departments to
forecast future product demand by channel.
Purchase Budgeting: Develop and maintain purchase budgets that align with sales forecasts, seasonality, and category growth while minimizing stock-to-sales
Channel Management : Be responsible for managing OTB for specific channels, understanding the
particular business financials, and being a leader within the channel to ensure planning and
buying actions are swiftly actioned on.
Assortment Planning: Work with buying teams to develop product assortments that meet
customer demand and align with brand strategies.
Allocation and Replenishment: Work alongside the allocator to manage inventory based on
demand forecasts and inventory levels, and manage replenishment processes to ensure optimal inventory levels.
Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, sell-through rates, and other key performance
indicators to identify risks and opportunities and take appropriate actions to optimize inventory turnover and reduce excess inventory.
Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Buying/Merchandising, Operations, Production, Demand Planning, and Finance, to ensure alignment of inventory plans with overall business objectives.
Analysis and Reporting : Prepare regular reports and analysis on key performance metrics, such
as sales, inventory turnover, and margin, and provide insights and recommendations to drive business growth and profitability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Merchandising, or a related field
- 1-2 years of experience in Planning, Buying, or related roles.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Gsheet, and other data analysis tools
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask
- A passion for streetwear fashion and an understanding of the target audience
- 42Tech, Full Circle, Shopify, and Google Analytics knowledge a plus
