Job Description

The Scrum Master is a role that drives the delivery of IT solutions from concept and pre-existing to delivery of fully functional working solutions based on business value and prioritization.

The Scrum Master will engage and focus with key stakeholders to ensure that the necessary tasks and requirements are properly gathered and documented and prioritized using an Agile methodology, with effective governance in place. The Scrum Master will ensure timely project reporting as well as relationship management with internal and external stakeholders. A crucial role is to provide direction and motivation to the stakeholders on milestones, risks, mitigations and resolution.

Essential Job Functions

  • Guides and coaches the delivery teams on how to use Agile practices and principles to deliver high quality products and services to our customers.
  • Gets team to a high performing level by recognizing areas of strength and improvement and employing appropriate coaching and development techniques.
  • Coaches the delivery teams in self-organization, cross-functional skillset, domain knowledge and communicates effectively, both internally and externally working within the team.
  • Works with team, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to influence and drive decision making and support organizational project or product teams.
  • Contributes to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices within the organization.
  • Coordinate with the IT PMO office on the implementation of Agile methodologies and best practices.
  • Ensure requirements and priorities are identified and documented with business stakeholders in the format of features and stories using value statements.
  • Facilitates and supports all scrum events: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.
  • Identify and manage cross-project dependencies, shared challenges, risks, issues, and mitigations while planning, delivering, and managing change.
  • Resolves team impediments with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization.
  • Manage the project administration, such as meeting records (minutes), features and stories backlogs, timelines, and governance - all the while making sure best practices and efficient processes are being followed.
  • Control the scope of each project and any change management required.
  • Work closely with design and software development team members, infrastructure, network, cybersecurity and business stakeholders for any corresponding dependencies to ensure seamless and efficient delivery.
  • Translate project goals and strategies into actionable plans.
  • Manage all project communication and performance reporting.

Requirements

  • Experience with Power Trading and ETRM systems
  • Exemplifies and promotes Agile values and principles.
  • Understanding of software development life cycle models.
  • Adept at refinement, story splitting, estimation, velocity, retrospection, and other Scrum techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of all North American ISO (ERCOT, PJM, SPP, MISO, NYISO, ISONE, CAISO) datasets and processes.
  • Functional knowledge of IT infrastructure including networking, databases, servers, security and cloud environments (Azure and AWS).


Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field or project management.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in IT project management using Agile methodologies
  • Experience in project management using Scrum, SAFe or other equivalent methodologies in an IT environment.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating meetings at multiple levels of an organization.
  • Experience in commercial and wholesale power, renewable and storage experience is a plus
  • Proficient with Backlog management tools (JIRA)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint)
