Job Description

Boston Metal is commercializing cutting-edge extractive metallurgy technology that will revolutionize primary metals production while decreasing cost and lowering environmental impact. This fast-paced startup company is seeking an experienced Warehouse Supervisor to join the team.


You will report to the Senior Supply Chain Specialist and will be responsible for overseeing daily warehouse activities. As the Warehouse Supervisor, you will coordinate tasks such as receiving and storing goods, managing inventory levels, ensuring efficient deliveries, supervising staff, and maximizing overall warehouse productivity.


Responsibilities:

Follow implemented standard operating procedures (SOP) to contribute to achieving operational excellence.

  • Determine staffing levels and assign workload.
  • Communicate job expectations and coach employees.
  • Validate the accuracy and quality of each inbound order received and then notify relevant parties of each order's arrival and current condition.
  • Ensure materials are appropriately identified upon receiving and during the put-away process.
  • Ensure bin locations are labeled to add/pull materials properly to/from inventory.
  • Assist with inventory control by streamlining the receiving, adding, and updating inventory processes.
  • Support monthly inventory cycle counting to align on-hand inventory with the ERP system.
  • Ensure timely transportation of material requests for delivery and inventory transaction accuracy.
  • Ensure the timely, cost-effective outbound shipment of parts, materials, and packages on behalf of Boston Metal.
  • Ability to drive and safely operate a 26ft box truck or an electric van for internal transportation of parts and materials if needed.
  • Follow the proper implementation of EHS/5S standards to maintain a clean facility, including floor cleaning, dock door maintenance, general warehouse cleanliness, and warehouse organization.
  • Identify areas of improvement and establish innovative or adjust existing work procedures and practices.
  • Enforce warehouse safety standards related to general warehouse safety and forklift safety policies.
  • Utilize a forklift and pallet jack for regularly moving pallets of material throughout the warehouse.


Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree in logistics or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience as a warehouse supervisor or a similar management position.
  • Experience in warehouse organization, 5S, building maintenance, and cleanliness.
  • Time management skills and the ability to delegate.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry software.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and scanning devices.
  • Possess a valid forklift certification (preferably by the State of MA).
  • Adaptable and willingness to work in a quickly changing environment.
  • Valid driver’s license.


Physical Demands

  • The employee must be able to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) as required by the specific work activity which may include: N95 mask or respirator; various types of gloves/hand protection; safety shoes; head protection; and protective clothing.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb stairs and sit without additional assistance
  • The employee is frequently required to stoop or crouch without additional assistance.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee has potential for exposure to hazardous chemicals and/or hazardous waste, extremely high temperatures, occasional exposure to moving equipment the risks of which are minimized through compliance with the use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and established safety policies and procedures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

We operate pilot plants and labs and many of our staff members are required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and you should be prepared to do so as well when necessary.
