Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION – PURPOSE OF ROLE:

The Design Engineer is a lead member of the engineering team who is responsible for product design, drawing creation, and monitoring and controlling drawings, versions, and updates using the different tools and software necessary. This position plays a critical role in interfacing with the customer on a new project to grasp / understand the customer design needs. Additionally, the Design Engineer provides design & drawing support throughout the project lifecycle, collaborating with other internal departments, and making design changes as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with the customer to create surface and solid CAD models according to customer specifications.
  • Input design specifications into the CAD software (Solidworks).
  • Follow complex instructions and diagrams to create or modify drawings.
  • Implement verbal instructions from Project Team to ensure accurate measurements, function, and finished product.
  • Work with the customer and internal departments to review blueprints and design drawings.
  • Work with Project Team to perform/assess QA/QC requirements.
  • Provide input on means/methods of construction.
  • Track, update and communicate changes to the Project Team.
  • Work with the Project Team to develop project implication.
  • Review in-house drawings to verify accuracy and completion.
  • Examine manufacturing processes and continuously strive for improvement of quality, safety, and efficiency while protecting the technological and competitive advantage.
  • Follow the change management procedures to manage modifications to the design when necessary.
  • Ensure drawings are completed to customer satisfaction while adhering to safety and ergonomic standards.
  • Work with the customer and Production Team to ensure accurate measurements, function, and completed product.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2D and 3D experience.
  • Solidworks software experience.
  • Self-Motivated with strong problem-solving skills and able to multi-task.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
