Position Overview:
This full-time, direct hire position offers the chance to make a positive impact in the lives of students with special needs. The Special Education Teacher will work closely with students, parents, and school staff to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) that support the educational goals of students. Job Duties Include:
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special education needs
- Provide direct instruction to students in small groups or one-on-one, depending on their needs
- Assess students’ abilities and progress, adapting instructional techniques as necessary
- Work collaboratively with other teachers, specialists, and administrators to ensure the success of students
- Monitor and document student progress, making adjustments to lesson plans and interventions as necessary
- Communicate with parents regarding their child’s progress and any concerns or needs
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, behavior, and IEP documentation
- Provide support to students in both academic and social-emotional development
- Ensure compliance with all state and local regulations regarding special education services
- Support and assist with transition planning for students as they prepare for post-school life
- Actively participate in staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school events
Requirements:
- Active Special Education Teacher certification or licensure as required by the state of California
- Experience working with special education students and families is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, policies, and best practices
- Ability to develop and implement IEPs and provide differentiated instruction
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Passionate about supporting students with diverse needs and ensuring their success
- Must pass all required background checks and screenings
