Job Description

A Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the engineering aspects of a manufacturing process, leading a team of engineers to design, optimize, and implement efficient production methods, ensuring quality standards are met while maximizing productivity and minimizing costs, often by managing projects, budgets, and coordinating with other departments like maintenance and quality control.


Responsibilities:

  • Process Improvement: Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement, implement new technologies and methodologies to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Project Management: Lead engineering projects related to manufacturing, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation to ensure timely completion.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and develop a team of manufacturing engineers, providing technical guidance, coaching, and performance evaluations.
  • Design and Development: Collaborate with product design teams to ensure manufacturability of new products, including tooling and fixture design.
  • Quality Control: Establish and maintain quality standards throughout the manufacturing process, identifying and resolving quality issues.
  • Cost Optimization: Analyze manufacturing costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction through process improvements and material selection.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and calibration of manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with other departments like operations, production planning, and quality assurance to ensure smooth production flow and alignment on goals.
  • Technology Evaluation: Stay updated on emerging manufacturing technologies and assess their potential to improve production efficiency.


Requirements:

  • Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, assembly, and automation
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Project management expertise
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Quality control principles and methodologies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
  • Several years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role, preferably with supervisory experience
