Electrical Project Engineer
12-Month Contract Opportunity in Marietta, GA
Responsibilities:
- Develop code compliant electrical systems that meet the customer specifications and NFPA 70 requirements.
- Ability to use software tools (AutoCAD Electrical, Bluebeam, Word, Excel, etc.) to develop the electrical designs such as single line drawings, wiring diagrams, termination lists, Bill of Materials (BoM), etc.
- Ability to use VI specific tools that are based on AutoCAD Electrical. VI will provide specific training to use the tools.
- Understand machine safety and the ability to develop machine safety circuits
- Perform system and component level calculations to size basic components and equipment for the application (conductor sizing, voltage drop, motor starters, overcurrent and short circuit protection, control networks, etc.) based on the requirements of NFPA 70.
- Specify the electrical equipment required for electrical systems that operates and controls both manufactured by our company, and third party purchased items
Requirements:
- Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
- Minimum of 3 years of related work experience (preferably in the Material Handling Equipment industry)
- Ability to use AutoCAD Electrical drafting tools, including:
- Bill of Materials (BoM) report generation
- Use of Smart Blocks for layouts and schematic creation
- Use of schematic tools for wire placement, numbering and labeling
- Experience creating field device layout drawings
- Knowledge of electrical engineering theories and principles
- Knowledge/experience with NFPA 70
- Knowledge of industrial automation: Ethernet designs, machine safety circuits, PLC IO design, LV power distribution, industrial equipment (panelboards, circuit breaker and fuse application
