POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for design, programming and commissioning of a variety of industrial control and automation systems. This includes pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical controls and PLC systems. In addition, they will provide technical support to the field sales force, customers and the Streamline™ Engineered Products Group.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Design Engineering role will include but may not be limited to:

·       Develop electrical schematics and drawings in AutoCAD ™

·       Develop pneumatic and hydraulic schematics and drawings in AutoCAD ™

·       Interpret mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic design drawings for electrical requirements

·       3D design using Solidworks

·       Logic design using Omron™ and Unitronics™ PLC’s and HMI units

·       Develop Bills of Materials (BOM’s)

·       Power up electrical systems and configure hardware per application specifications

·       Check quality of assemblers and technicians work and respond to inquiries during assembly

·       Sales support role will include but may not be limited to:

-Work with Sales Engineers to provide customer application support and quote preparation as required

-Conceptual circuit design and quote generation

-Product component selection and recommendation.

-Problem solving and troubleshooting of system circuits.

-Problem solving and troubleshooting of major system components.

-Circuit and system design assistance for customers.

·       Direct telephone interface with customer personnel to discuss applications and act in a technical advisory role to resolve and answer technical questions posed by our customers.

·       Interface with supplier technical personnel to obtain such information and support so as to assure delivery of prompt, accurate information to his internal and external customer base.


 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

·       Bachelor’s degree in engineering plus direct experience in industrial automation applications, including electrical design and PLC programming / troubleshooting

·       Pneumatic and hydraulic circuit design

·       Electrical circuit design

·       Leadership: a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.

·       Strong electrical / mechanical aptitude; the ability to understand and apply advanced fluid power and electrical and electronic technology

·       Proficient in AutoCAD™; SolidWorks™.

·       Familiar with Industry Standards including NEC, ASME, UL and CE

·       Must be able to develop positive relationships with customers, suppliers, sales personnel and customer service personnel, all with the objective of solving our end customer’s application or technical problems.

·       Strong interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written. Be methodical and detail-oriented to assure communication of significant activities to other interested parties within and outside the organization.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job.

·       The employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time.

·       The employee must constantly reach with hands and fingers.

·       The employee must be able to work in close contact with small and large groups.

·       Frequent hearing and talking is required.

·       The employee may occasionally lift up to 35 lbs.

·       The employee must be able to safely drive an automobile to and from client sites.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

·       Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience

·       5 years minimum work experience in industrial automation and controls

·       Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality System standards
