Title: Mechanical Piping Designer

Duration: 4-6 month Contract-to-Hire

Location: Austin OR Corpus Christi, TX

Schedule: Onsite 5 days a week, working 10-hour days (overtime included)

Pay: $65-70/hour


Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical/Piping Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 4-12 years of experience in mechanical design, utilizing tools such as SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD Mechanical, and Plant 3D. This role involves developing both 2D and 3D designs for industrial and commercial projects while ensuring accuracy and compliance with project standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and modify 2D and 3D CAD designs for mechanical systems and components.
  • Create detailed drawings and layouts using SolidWorks , Inventor , AutoCAD Mechanical , and Plant 3D .
  • Collaborate with engineers and project teams to ensure designs meet technical specifications and project requirements.
  • Review and refine designs to optimize functionality, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.
  • Maintain and update design documentation, including bills of materials, assembly drawings, and part specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and company quality protocols in all design tasks.
  • Provide design support during fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases.
  • Conduct design reviews and incorporate feedback from multidisciplinary teams.
  • Troubleshoot design-related issues and propose innovative solutions.


Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting, or a related field; a Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
  • 4-12 years of experience in piping design, drafting, and modeling.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks , Inventor , AutoCAD Mechanical , and Plant 3D .
  • Strong knowledge of 2D CAD design principles and practices.
  • Experience creating and/or revising P&IDs and isometric drawings
  • Experience with mechanical systems design for industrial or commercial projects.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with industry-specific standards and codes related to mechanical design.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Knowledge of piping, HVAC, or equipment design is a plus.
