Summary:
The Engineering Manager will oversee day to day operations of the engineering document management team as well as engineering teams supporting new product designs for marine mechanical steering, controls & cables
Main responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the document control team including continuous improvement of processes for improved efficiency
- Develop and effectively lead the Marine Mechanical Steering & Controls design team to support product life cycle management and future growth
- Lead in the design/development of new products and assist in continuous improvement of existing products
- Manage engineering projects utilizing both internal and external resources as required for the development of Marine Steering & Controls marketed by Dometic per project timelines
- Lead the identification and development of new technologies to support revenue growth in Marine Mechanical Control & Steering products
- Work with the corporate VP of Engineering to ensure processes and standards are consistent with other locations
Qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required (mechanical engineer is ideal); Master’s degree preferred
- Experience managing product development from concept to successful launch required (any product)
- Strong management, leadership, and mentoring skills
- Consumer product design experience in mechanical product design and new product development experience, ideally with marine or allied industries
- 7+ years related professional experience including 3+ years in managing direct reports
- Experience in sheet metal, plastics, electronics, and low voltage electrical systems preferred
- Experience with engineering design software (3D, CREO or SolidWorks preferred)
